Peter D. Vickery, PhD (19492017), was one of New Englands leading ornithologists. His books include A Birders Guide to Maine. The coauthors for Birds of Maine include Charles D. Duncan, William J. Sheehan, and Jeffrey V. Wells, with coeditors Barbara Vickery and Scott Weidensaul.
