Heidi is a selfish and rude little hummingbird who rules the roost in Pop's garden. She tries to monopolize the sugar water feeders and chases other birds and butterflies away from the flower beds. When they retaliate Heidi learns a painful lesson about life in the garden. The story is based on the author's observations of hummingbirds in her yard and is told using her photographs. The book is colorful and includes photos of a variety of birds. Heidi Hummer Learns a Lesson is a creative way of teaching children about how to treat others.
