Heidi Hummer's Horrible Headache is the story of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird that spends the summer months in Pop's garden in Yorkville, Illinois. She was born in the garden, but travels to Mexico in October where she spends the winter months. One day has an accident while chasing another Hummingbird that was invading her territory and nearly breaks her neck. The story is told using the author's own photographs and experiences with Hummers, including photos of Heidi when she was a chick. The book is filled with fun facts about Hummingbirds that will delight and interest young children.
Jodi Traub is a retired grandmother of twelve who loves nature and photography. She and her husband, Rich, spend time each summer visiting Yellowstone National Park or Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada, observing and photographing animals. Her observations and photographs have been the inspiration for her books and several murals that she painted on the walls of her home. She loves to spend time in their wildflower garden watching Hummingbirds, and has gotten to know some of them personally. Jodi and Rich live in Yorkville, Illinois, close to their five children.
