A snarky illustrated guide to birds, equal parts profane and funny, based on the eponymous Tumblr. The bulk of the book features 50 birds (real birds assigned names that properly describe the emotions they evoke, like the Goddamned Canada Goose, the Solitary Sand Pooper, the White-Breasted Butt Nugget) and the reasons why they suck, all rendered inaffectionate and angry watercolour and ink. Each illustration is accompanied by a host of fun facts about the dumb bird in question: its annoying call, its dumb migratory pattern, its downright tacky markings, and so on. Also included are handy birding tips, migration maps, and other pointers that help give a full context on how frustratingly stupid birds are.

"There are a lot of great bird field identification guides, but after a day afield with The Field Guide to Dumb Birds of North America, you will never look at birds or birdwatching the same again...You need this book if you want to lighten up your birdwatching."
--Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette
"This genius handbook by Matt Kracht takes a humorous approach to identifying 50 "dumb" North American birds -- highlights include the "White-Breasted Butt Nugget" and the "Goddamned Canada Goose," along with facts about the birds' "annoying" calls, "dumb" migratory patterns, "downright tacky" markings, etc."
