Reviews

...easy to digest book for younger readers. Crisp color photos of bears in the wild--eating, hibernating, with their young--help to illustrate the facts offered up in each section of this book.-- "SWON Library Consortium, Ohio"
Each book in this series promises to entice students from the start with fascinating facts and a discussion about physical features. Subsequent chapters deal with temperament, habitat, eating habits, hibernation and life cycle. Of special interest is an "amazing but true" section. Young students will appreciate each book's layout and design; double page spreads pairing concise information with large full color photographs. Quick facts are found in bubbles throughout the book and bolded words are defined at the bottom of each page and then repeated in a glossary. This is an outstanding resource for young researchers; the author has consulted with a research ecologist, the U.S. Geological Survey and the Leetown Science Center. Recommended.-- "Library Media Connection Online"
