William Sandy was born in 1951 near Ernabella, South Australia. He first started painting in 1975 and then joined the painters of the Papunya Tula in 1980. The Dreamings he paints include the Dingo, Emu, Two Women, Tingari and Catapillar. The artwork on this address book is 'Emu Dreaming'. It tells of the Emu ancestors during their epic dreamtime journey northwest toward Kintore in the Gibson Desert. The background dotting often reflects the visual aspects of the landscapes such as sandhills and vegetation.
