This filigreed design was originally created in 1675 to hold Richard Allestree s The Government of the Tongue. Crafted by the Queens Binder A, the balance of open space and intricate elements makes it a shining jewel of the period. The Queens Binder was a name given to a small group of English craftsmen during the era. While the name of the binder called A is not known, there is no doubt as to the regency of this gilt binding.
