Description

For a Pagan Song tells the story of how Jonny Bealby follows in the footsteps of his two heroes from literature, Kipling and Dravot, travelling across remote parts of India and Pakistan and into war-torn Afghanistan. Picturing himself seated by a roaring fire, listening to the song of a pagan chief, Jonny sets out to experience the ancient ways of the tribes of Kafiristan - and discovers himself along the way.

Reviews

One of Britain's sexiest authors * Marie Claire *
A superb and truthful book. I cannot remember the last travel book that had me laughing aloud and in tears by the end- extremely worthwhile and memorable. * Traveller *
Something in Bealby's voice, a mixture of innocence, determination and pain, makes the journey worthwhile. I was glad to be there when [he] reaches his pagan land. * Sunday Times *
A rollicking tale. No one has written a better travel book about the region since Eric Newby came down from the Hindu Kush. * Daily Telegraph *
