Volume 37 of the Flora of Australia is the first ofthree volumes covering the family Asteraceae.Asteraceae are the largest family of floweringplants, with over 1600 genera and 24,000species found on all continents exceptAntarctica, and also one of the largest familiesin Australia, with an estimated 290 genera and1430 species. The family is found throughoutAustralia, in all habitats, although scarce inrainforest.Twenty-seven authors, illustrators andphotographers have contributed to this volume.
The Australian Biological Resources Study is a program within Parks Australia Division of the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.
