Nodulation in Legumes is a comprehensive evaluation of the major changes in taxonomy of both Leguminosae and rhizobia, with significant insights into the evolution and genetic structure of legumes and rhizobia and how these interact to give a variety of forms of functional nodules. Nitrogen fixation in ecological terms is explored and the author discusses how legumes have adapted to life in harsh environments.
Janet Sprent, is Emeritus Professor of Plant Biology in the University of Dundee. She has been working with legumes for over 30 years and during the last 15-20 has extended her interests from agricultural species to a worldwide study of nodulation in all types of legume.
