The Australian Beetles series represents a comprehensive treatment of the beetles of Australia, a relatively under-studied fauna that includes many unusual and unique evolutionary lineages found nowhere else on Earth.
Volume 3 (Polyphaga, Part 2) contains 12 chapters, providing critical information and identification keys to the genera of the Australian beetle families included in superfamily Curculionoidea (Nemonychidae, Anthribidae, Belidae, Attelabidae, Caridae, Brentidae and Curculionidae) and one subfamily of Cerambycidae (Lamiinae). Each chapter is richly illustrated with black and white photographs, high-resolution images and drawings. The book also includes colour habitus figures for 900 Australian beetle genera belonging to the families treated in this volume. The chapters have been written by 11 contributors from Australia, Poland and the USA.
Hermes E. Escalona is the Zimmerman Fellow and curator at the Australian National Insect Collection, CSIRO. He is interested in systematics, morphological and molecular evolution of beetles with a current focus on weevils (Curculionidae) and small beetle families. He is the author of more than 50 research publications and co-author of books on Australian longhorn beetles.
Adam Slipinski is the Senior Principal Research Scientist and curator at the Australian National Insect Collection, CSIRO. His research concentrates on the phylogeny and higher classification of beetles. He is the author of nearly 200 research publications, the editor of a two-volume book on the phylogeny and classification of beetles, and an author of books on Australian ladybird and longhorn beetles.
