The book includes a description of the parts of the microscope; how to use adjust lighting; types of digital cameras; controls for adjusting digital cameras; choosing a video camera and controls for videography.
Brian Matsumoto had directed a microscopy facility consisting of transmission and scanning electron microscopes. For light microscopy, the facility contained microscopes capable of fluorescence, differential interference contrast, phase contrast, and darkfield illumination. With co-author Carol Roullard, they have a combined experience in photomicrography of over sixty years. Carol Roullard is a prize-winning photographer who has co-written over eight books on using cameras.
