Description

Do you feel like your body is constantly at war with the world around you
Do you feel powerless, overwhelmed, and isolated by reactions you can't control

If so, welcome to the world of Hista-Maniacs-a term coined by the author to portray the immune system as an overzealous knight defending a sickly castle. For those battling Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), this knight's defense often goes haywire. Out-of-control mast cells release chemicals called mediators, triggering inflammation and chaos throughout the body.

Millions worldwide face this daily struggle, with triggers ranging from toxic exposures like mold, tick bites, and industrial pollution to everyday challenges like electronics and chemicals. Even survivors of disasters-hurricanes, wildfires, explosions-may find themselves living this nightmare.

This book is a lifeline for Hista-Maniacs everywhere. Retired minister and Army officer Sharon Kiesel knows this battle all too well. Forced to sleep in her car and campers to escape her mold-invaded home, she fought back against chronic inflammation, despair, and the collapse of her social life. Now, she shares her hard-earned wisdom alongside empowering advice from others who have faced similar challenges.

Inside, you'll discover practical strategies to:
Avoid triggers and create a safe, healing environment.
Decode your body's warning signs before a reaction spirals out of control.
Build a resilient immune system to regain your health and hope.

Whether you're newly diagnosed or have been living with MCAS for years, this book offers a compassionate and realistic approach to navigating the unpredictability of chronic inflammation. Sharon's story, combined with actionable advice, will inspire you to take control of your health, find your strength, and advocate for a cleaner, safer world.

Your journey to healing starts here. Together, we can overcome the chaos and reclaim your life.

Author Bio

Imagine leaving your home, family and career because multiple exposures to moldy, water-damaged buildings made you so ill you couldn't breathe. Physical challenges were only part of the battle. Include the isolation and pain of being dismissed, demeaned and sickened by individuals and organizations who didn't understand your condition. That's the reality I've faced since 2010, navigating life with chronic systemic inflammation, also known as Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).

MCAS occurs when the body's mast cells, which normally protect us, misfire and trigger widespread inflammation. This condition underpins many chronic illnesses, from allergies to Lyme Disease, and has influenced every aspect of my life.

With a Doctor of Ministry and a Master's in Systems Management, I've spent decades guiding individuals and organizations through complex transitions. As a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Army and an ordained Disciples of Christ minister, I've honed leadership and advocacy skills that now fuel my mission: raising awareness about MCAS and empowering those who endure it to thrive despite chronic health challenges. My husband of 48 years, Mike and I continue to travel full-time in our recreational vehicle, proving that life's obstacles don't have to stop you from achieving your dreams. Together, we've embraced resilience and adventure.

Through this book I share the knowledge, coping skills, and hope needed to overcome the hidden dangers of our environment and the social stigma that often comes with being harmed by it. Together we can create a healthier, more compassionate world one step at a time.
