John L. Kitzmiller, MD, was professor of obstetrics, gynaecology, and reproductive sciences and director of resident training at the University of California, San Francisco from 1982 until 1992. Since 1992, he has been active in the San Jose (California) region developing a clinical practice and later serving as an outpatient consultant in high-risk pregnancy at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and Navidadas Medical Center. He currently chairs the ADA Writing Group that has prepared clinical guidelines in managing diabetes and pregnancy.
