The articles in this collection are written by experts in the field of somatics and focus on somatic psychology and the connection between body and mind in the therapeutic process. Macnaughton identifies the complex and diverse forces at play, both in the internal and external processes people go through during their lives. These forces are the elements of self-somatic, emotional, mental, interpersonal, social and spiritual.
"This collection of articles is uniquely useful as a teaching tool to students of somatic psychology. It offers access to cutting-edge applications of somatic psychotherapy in a broad range of clinical situations. Macnaughtons original contributions, bringing together family systems theory with somatic psychology, fit well alongside articles such as Lisbeth Marchers developmental focus and Peter Levines work with shock trauma.-Peter Bernhardt, M.F.T., Adjunct Professor of Psychology, John F. Kennedy University"A must for therapists of all kinds, this unique collection combines heartfelt compassion for the human condition with clear, innovative, and practical psychotherapeutic theory and technique."-Pat Ogden, originator of Hakomi Integrative Somatics
