Description

Unleash your leadership by identifying and overcoming the limitations you place on yourself in the workplace.

Women are called by God to flourish in areas of leadership. And for the first time in modern history, women are making their way into strategic positions of influence and leadership within the ministry, public, corporate, charity and voluntary sectors.

Certainly, there are still external disadvantages that women leaders face in the professional world, and there's still a lot of work to do. But there are internal hinderances, too, and those you can take charge of today.

In 7 Deadly Sins of Women in Leadership, Kate Coleman considers what lies at the root of the many challenges facing today's leaderswomen and menand proposes ways of dealing with them. Effective leadership starts with you. Based on her 35 years of leadership experience, Kate explains how you can:

  • Overcome limiting self-perceptions
  • Establish boundaries
  • Develop a tailor-made personal vision
  • Cultivate a healthy work/life rhythm
  • Stop being a people-pleaser
  • Learn to confront not collude
  • Be intentional with your inner circle

Written for every leader from any sector or gender (men could learn a few things from this book too), this proven and practical guidebook will enable you to identify and overcome self-defeating patterns of behavior, in ways that will radically transform your leadership.

Reviews

'This is a must-read book for anyone in leadership, including those who wonder how they got there! In her perceptive examination, Kate Coleman uncovers what so often lies hidden in this area, and places it firmly on the agenda. It's rare to find such careful research, gripping narrative, and positive mentoring all in one book. I loved it!' * Elaine Storkey, author, speaker, broadcaster, and former president of Tearfund *
'If you need a push to step up your leadership skills, this book will encourage you in a thought-provoking, relevant, and practical way. Kate Coleman's experience and insight further our understanding of leadership and the recognition that, as women, we have a responsibility to lead. Kate's perspective on a collaborative leadership style hit a particularly powerful chord in my heart. I would recommend this book to all women, at any stage of their leadership journey, knowing that God can use us in extraordinary ways if we are willing to respond. This is a contemporary read, compelling in substance and style.' * Kay Chaldecott, former managing director of Capital Shopping Centres Group plc *
'A clear and timely tool for women leaders and for the men who celebrate them. To get the most out of this book, approach it as you would a panoramic fitting room mirror: you may not like what you see, but you're in a good place to put it right.' * Katei Kirby, Wesleyan minister and former CEO of ACEA UK (African Caribbean Evangelical Alliance) *
'As someone who has personally benefited from Kate's wisdom, insight, and friendship, I am delighted to endorse this book. It is biblically grounded, extremely well-informed, and full of practical insights, including 'coaching tips.' As much as this is a book written for women, it is not just a woman's book. I would also recommend this book to any man, or any teams, wishing to create a better working environment for women.' * Lucy Peppiatt, principal of Westminster Theological Centre, UK *
'Kate skillfully guides and calls us as women to courageously recognize, confront, and disarm these internal barriers so that we can follow God without reservation into the enormous challenges of our times alongside the brothers who need us!' * Wendy Wilson, mission advisor for development of women for Missio Nexus, executive director of Womens Development Track *
'Kate Coleman equips and empowers women who lead and offers clear and practical applications in which to stay on track for the achievement of each woman's best leadership journey.' * LoriAnn Biggers, CEO of BellaVaughan, Inc., cohost of The Leader's Panel podcast, corporate board director and former president of Lloyds of London, North America *
'The context and challenges for women often differ from those I experience as a man. Having been so blessed by the ministry of Kate--and many other amazing women leaders--I am excited to see her wisdom both encourage and equip many more leaders.' * Paul Harcourt, national leader of New Wine, England *
'Kate is a leader who challenges constructs, pioneers new ways, and clears a path for others to follow. She is a leader we must take note of if the church is to be at its best, and this book is Kate at her optimal deadly best.' * Jonny Lee, senior pastor of Renewal Christian Centre, Solihull *
