God has a special mission for you. A simple, unique and personal mission unhampered by restrictive structures, systems and policies. It's true. Unfortunately, it's widely assumed that a "calling" or "personal mission" is reserved for those few who lead large organizations or churches, leaving the rest of us as volunteers. In our highly procedural world, we don't easily accept that God has given us permission to experiment in this space.
For over 30 years, Pete Cocco has had a hand in launching thousands of students into personal missions from the university campus. It was during his time as a campus minister, when he came to understand that personal missions are not as much something to discover, as they are something to develop. Consequently, Pete has created a five-stage process that has proven to effectively develop your personal mission beyond the walls of church. Five distinct stages, all powered by one common source-permission.
Permission to dream big.
Permission to be armed and dangerous.
Permission to flip the script.
Permission to start fires.
Permission to prioritize play.
This book is a collection of the experiences he's lived, the principles he's learned and the people he's encountered. It's his hope that this book will nudge you out beyond the institutional confines and into the adventurous life you were created for.
Pete has a long history with launching people into personal missions from the college campus. He has been a pioneer coach to multiple ministries and organizations in over 10 countries. In addition to serving on an international steering committee, he also established campus ministries of his own in Hungary, China and the Philippines. Pete and his wife Paulette spent the majority of their ministry life at Illinois State University. It's here that he served as the campus minister for 22 years and together with his wife raised 5 kids. Pete now resides just outside of Raleigh North Carolina. He is the founder of Per Mission Inc and has co-founded the Diffuse Network for spiritual entrepreneurs. He loves all sports and enjoys long talks with the dreamers of the world. Also, it should be noted that he exercises just enough to keep from being embarrassed by his triathlete wife.
