Description

Propelled by grief following her father's death, a teenager travels from rural Australia to the highlands of Nepal. Her journey brings her closer to peace and leads her to take vows as a Buddhist nun. Venerable Yeshe Chodron brings the Buddhist faith into our daily lives with Everyday Enlightenment. Outlining the Buddha's life and his teachings, she takes the reader on a path that examines human nature and its potential, meditation, karma, and coping with difficulties, even death. She reveals the joy and peace that so many followers of the Buddha's teachings have found in their own spiritual awakenings. As our world faces mounting conflict and uncertainty, Everyday Enlightenment explains the concepts of loving-kindness, a genuine heart of tenderness and true compassion for others. Bringing these forces of love into our everyday lives, literally 'at the kitchen sink', offers hope for peace in ourselves and our world.
