This book is a very welcome one. It covers with its concise, clear and comprehensive historical investigation, an area in which not many books were written: the history of the Orthodox Church in the United States....The style is clear. The content is not over filled with historical dates or names, it is concise, but comprehensive. And the history is not deprived of the meaning it has. Historical reality is accurately treated as a basis for the future. THOMAS E. FITZGERALD is Professor of Church History and Historical Theology at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts. He has served as Executive Director of the Program on Unity and Renewal at the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland.
