"Matthew, Merton, And Me - Recollections of a Life of Grace" is a story that deserves to be told. The book focuses on the lasting connection forged within the walls of a 103-year-old monastery and the impact it carries today in the monastic heart of Monsignor Robert L. Getz.
Born in Philadelphia, Robert L. Getz served and currently lives in New Mexico. A gentle-spirited man of God, Getz began his vocation as a Trappist Monk at the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky in 1951. Unfortunately, he was forced to leave the monastery due to severe illness. Born to serve God, he was ordained to the diocesan priesthood in 1961. He recently celebrated sixty years of priesthood.
