It's one of those topics most of us would rather avoid in conversation -- why would anyone want to reveal private jealousies, resentments, fantasies, temptations, or other weaknesses Yet steady sales of this valuable little book attest that there are plenty of us who struggle with these things -- and desire help. For anyone who wavers at times between obeying the voice of the conscience and giving in to the lower nature, this book offers sage advice for coming through the struggle.
Publishers Weekly Concise, straightforward... from the heart. Arnold sounds a warning to the self-oriented, therapeutic tendencies of our day: "The goal should always be liberation... We want to find Jesus, not ourselves." New Christian Herald This book exudes compassion and confidence.
Born in Austria in 1913, Johann Heinrich Arnold was a pastor who worked at the Woodcrest Bruderhof, a Christian community in upstate New York, for nearly thirty years. Though little known today, he was widely sought after as a spiritual counselor in the 1960s and 1970s, and his books remain bestsellers twenty years after his death.
