This two-volume publication celebrates the work of the eminent biblical scholar Simon John DeVries, and focuses upon the development of a critical Biblical Theology of the Hebrew Bible. The second volume encompasses the worldviews of the Bible for Jews and Christians, the Holiness of God, Psalms in the Septuagint, similarities in ancient Near Eastern narrative and the Hebrew Bible, the Bible in the cultural settings of ancient Rome, Oriental theologies, and the function of biblical metaphors. This is volume 389 in the Journal for the Study of the Old Testament Supplement series.
