Is it possible for women to find positive feminine images in the Bible For so long the Bible has been used to remind women that they were second in creation and first in sin. Yet, as Elizabeth Geitz demonstrates, a more careful reading of the biblical texts presents a host of powerful feminine images. Strong women like Lydia, Ruth, and Mary, plus depictions of God as mother or as a woman giving birth to creation, abound in the Scriptures. In Soul Satisfaction Geitz rediscovers the feminine side of the Scriptures and holds it up as a source of strength for women everywhere.
Soul Satisfaction, a collection of meditations for women, offers a Scripture quotation and reflection on what the passage means for women today. Each meditation ends with a thought or question to provoke deeper understanding and encourages the reader to put what has been learned into action.
Elizabeth Geitz is an Episcopal priest and the author of five books on spirituality, evangelism, hospitality and women's perspectives on faith.
