Spiritual Leadership in the Global City is a contemporary study of the extraordinary spiritual leaders God has called out to be a sphere of influence in the global city of New York. These leaders are working out of not only their passion but also an understanding of their context. They are bridging gaps and have formed a network of multiethnic and multidenominational churches that are seeing results of their labor.
Mac Pier serves as president of Concerts of Prayer Greater New York and the New York City Leadership Center. He earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of South Dakota, his master of arts degree in religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and his doctoral degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to founding Concerts of Prayer Greater New York, Mac worked with Concerts of Prayer International and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Through the Greater New York organization, he established a partnership with World Vision and cocreated the American Families Assistance Fund following the attacks of September 11, 2001. He is the coauthor of The Power of a City at Prayer (InterVarsity Press, 2002) and a contributor to Signs of Hope in the City (Judson Press, 1997).
