Mawlana Sayyid Abdul A'la Mawdudi (1903-1979), one of the chief architects and leaders of the contemporary Islamic resurgence, was an outstanding Islamic thinker and writer of his time. He devoted his entire life to expounding the meaning and message of Islam, inviting individuals to renew their commitment to their Creator, and to organizing a movement for people to establish Islam in their lives fully. Zafar Ishaq Ansari (b.1932) is the Director General of the Islamic Research Institute of the International Islamic University, Islamabad, India. He has an M.A. in Economics from the University of Karachi, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
