Reviews

This is one of the first works to list unpublished manuscript and archival materials about English, Scotch, Irish, and Welsh settlements of North America that are held in repositories of the US and Canada. The table of contents consists of an alphabetical list of American and Canadian repositories, whereas the entries themselves are arranged by state or province. Each entry includes the name of the institution, specific papers held there, the address, phone number, and hours of the institution, and the degree of public access. A general index lists manuscripts alphabetically and refers the reader to entry numbers. A very useful explanation of how to use the book may be found in the front matter.... Weaver's book is both usable and thorough. Recommended for graduate libraries and special collections concerned with immigration from Great Britain and Ireland.-Choice
