Description

The increasing number of unsupervised or "Latchkey" children is having an impact on the community in general and on libraries in particular. Both public and school librarians are finding themselves in the new and undefined role of supervisor. This text is a comprehensive reference source of facts and information in which the author describes methods and programmes now being used in 31 public libraries to meet the needs of latchkey children. In addition, she discusses ways in which both the community and the library can respond to the larger issues of latchkey children and child care.
