Educational advisers around the world respond daily to numerous questions about study or research in the United States. In order to adequately address the growing volume of these crucial enquiries, advisers need to begin to develop themselves as information professionals. To this end, this book gives international education advisers a solid grounding in library and information science. From it, advisers should learn how to acquire appropriate materials, organise them in a useful manner, and effectively meet the needs of their clients. The author emphasises the importance of advising for international education within the context of the accelerated internationalisation of the globe. He further stresses the importance of developing advising as an information profession within the advance of the information age. His book demonstrates the character of advising as an information service involving the systematic gathering, organising, communicating and managing of information. The conviction of this work is that advisers can achieve maximum professionalisation through commitment to developing themselves and advising as a systematic service.

As such it fills a gap in the literature...the basic principles which it covers would be vaulable for anyone who is working in a career guidance centre...there is much useful information and many ideas to be gleaned from this publication."-Reference Reviews
