One of the tragedies of American education is that so many teachers do not understand or are unaware of educational issues and how they impact on their profession. There is a gap between teacher perceptions and reality and this book is a first step in closing that gap.
Hot-Button Issues for Teachers is a timely, comprehensive book that addresses more than 100 educational issues that are facing our schools, children, and especially teachers. These issues include:
Teacher Education
Merit Pay
Unions
Classroom Management
Textbook Selection
Professional Relationships
School Safety
This book should be of interest to all of those in the teaching profession.
As a teacher with over 25 years of experience, I recommend this book without reservation. It is pragmatic, realistic, and succinctly covers the issues that all of us face everyday. This book is a reading must for my colleagues in the teaching profession. -- Pam Weldon, teacher and reading specialist, Morse Elementary School, Tarrytown, New York
The authors have put together a candid, frank review of teaching, teachers, and schooling that should be required reading for all teachers and school administrators. Reading this book should open the door for lively discussions in faculty rooms and staff development seminars in our profession. -- Jerry Cicchelli, former superintendent, Mahopac, New York
