Great material which makes for a great read. Not only for educators but for just about anyone who works with young people. Even parents will find this to be a gold mine of a book. With many districts implementing procedures to avoid punitive measures, Ive found that effective relationship building still allows educational leaders to maintain a firm structure and learning environment. And this book tells you how to do it. I would encourage any and all professional development directors to invest in this material. Finally a book that every educator should read! Parker, Barnes, and Kohler-Evans really brought home the concept ofthe importance of building relationships with students andcreating a classroom environment with consistent routines so students know what is expected of them.Theyteach that with these important factors in place, students will feel confident in taking academic risks and taking more ownership of their learning. He is inspired to help adults and young people develop their relationships, rapport, and responsiveness to impact positive interactions with others. Candice Dowd Barnes, Ed.D., is the COO of Parker Education & Development, LLC and serves as an associate professor at the University of Central Arkansas. She is an accomplished author and educator who has worked in both the public and non-profit education sector. Patty Kohler-Evans, Ed.D., is an associate professor at the University of Central Arkansas. She has nineteen years of experience as a special education administrator in the largest district in Arkansas, serving urban students with numerous needs stemming from poverty, disability, and race.
