Leadership is a skill that plays a critical role in the learning environment, work center, and in all aspects of life. Effective leaders have the ability to influence others to accomplish a desired outcome. Motivating others to follow you is not always an easy task to accomplish, but effective leadership abilities make this task achievable. Becoming an influential leader requires an understanding and demonstration in the areas of critical thinking, forecasting and leading change, interpersonal relationships, ethics, communication, negotiation, and leadership principles. My studies have given me a better understanding in each of these areas and taught me that there is not one right answer when it comes to developing leadership skills.
I am a veteran of the United States Army, where I retired as a Sergeant Major. I was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi where I graduated from Clarksdale High School. I am married to Jacquelyn Meeks of Clarksdale, MS and have two daughters, Andrea and Brianna. My military background consists of 23 years in various leadership roles in the United States Army. I have held all leadership positions throughout the military. I have completed all the military leadership courses to include a graduate of the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy Class # 59. I have served as an Adjunct Professor for 6 years teaching numerous leadership, management and process improvement courses from high school to graduate school. I enjoy running, reading, and visiting amusement parks. I am proud to say that I have visited all of Disney locations (Disneyland in California, Paris, Tokyo and Disneyworld in Florida) except Hong Kong which is currently on my bucket list.
