Description

Teachers may retire from their schools, but they never retire from teaching. Teaching, Making a Difference includes two goals. The first is to give guidance to teachers contemplating retirement while helping them to maintain realistic standards for their students. The second goal is to present a multitude of options for just-retired teachers to enjoy their well-earned retirement while still using their knowledge and experience to benefit their communities. Teachers will learn techniques that they can incorporate into their lesson plans as they continue to teach, and upon retiring, they will learn how to develop their own lesson plan to take care of themselves and to participate in their communities.

Reviews

Steve Sonntag touches on facets of education we have all experienced. He presents thought provoking reasons why a seasoned teacher mightbegin to think about retirement and provides important considerations for making that life changing decision. Whether you are a beginning teacher or a veteran, this book will be a valuable asset. -- Sharon J. Ware, retired Spanish teacher
As an educator retired for 11 years, I can identify the book as a great guide not only in preparing for retirement but also a great guide for living in retirement.Pre-planning for retirement, an absolute necessity, is well-addressed. In addition, transitioning from a work-a-day world to a life without bells and strict schedules is presented with a variety of scenarios for adapting to very different life experiences. A good read for anyone contemplating retirement or just starting a new life or career after putting the grade book on the shelf for the last time. -- David P. Soeth, Retired Secondary Educator
Teaching, The Art Of Making A Difference: Helping Others Help Themselves is a mosaic of ideas for new and experienced teachers alike. -- Carol de S Campos, Retired Secondary Teacher
Steve Sonntags teaching background, life experience and insight are evident throughout the book as he provides valuable information and helps guide the post classroom teacher as he or she decides what next. In the book being a couch potato is not one of the options listed, rather rocking the world and the many ways to do that. Coach, volunteer, mentor, lead, guide, tutor and in these and other ways to help empower people to better their lives and expand their horizons. Continue to learn and share the knowledge you have gained with others. -- John Rockey, Insurance and Financial Services
