ABOUT MR. ELWAY

Mr. Elway has been teaching and coaching at the high school level for fifteen years. He has taught Math classes in Pre-Algebra, Algebra Prep, Algebra I, Geometry, and Statistics. Mr. Elway has also taught Summer School, Morning School, Night School and Santiago College District Courses in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. Coach Elway has also been the Head-Assistant Coach for the following varsity sports: Baseball, Football, Girls Basketball and Tennis. During his teaching career Mr. Elway has taught Elementary, Intermediate, and High School levels, as well as Technical College, Junior College and University classes in Business, Math, and Computer Science. There are three things that the Mr. Elway has always focused on in the classroom: 1) arithmetic computations, 2) increasing vocabulary size, and 3) mechanical reasoning/problem solving (which are the g-factors in developing knowledge). These were developed through Mr. Elway's units in Careers, Math-Magic, Creativity, Tangrams, Constructions, Fibonacci Number Units, Triangles & Circle Unit -- as well as Positive Image, and Self-Image Building (which are part of this book). Before Mr. Elway retires, he wants to leave a sort of legacy to the many students he has taught during his fifty year career. Hopefully it can give you a foundation of the things you need to be successful. There were always three things I loved about teaching: 1) ALL my Students, teachers and staff; 2) MY Mathematics (algebra and especially geometry); and 3) Teaching and Coaching. I want to leave a couple of my favorite sayings for my students: 1) If it's going to be, it's up to ME!' 2) Whether YOU think you can, or you think you can't; you're right! Think you can, know you can!
