Description

This book provides a straightforward approach to developing a school or districts vision to guide all stakeholders toward a common goal with educational technology. This book is intended for educational leaders to provide a structured methodology for a school or district to develop their own vision of educational technology. This book discusses educational technology in a non-technical manner and addresses ideas and concerns about 1:1 computing and bring your own device solutions (BYOD). This book will answer the following questions: - Why do we need a VISION for Technology in Education - How do we develop our own VISION for Educational Technology - Does our VISION for educational technology support our District Strategic Plan - How do todays infrastructure requirements, instructional applications and equipment impact our VISION

Reviews

"Vidal and Casey have done it again with another well thought out and logical approach to technology planning. The process described in this book was used to guide and shape our Technology Vision which has been shared, and understood, by a large cross section of our stakeholders both inside and outside the District. The focused approach on starting with the Strategic Plan as the umbrella under which everything else must support has been vital. Because of this approach there was no real debate about whether technology is important since it all supports the Board's Strategic Plan. A must read for anyone involved in technology planning." --William C. Olien, assistant superintendent, Murrieta Valley Unified School District

"Darryl Vidal and Michael Casey provide a guide to preparing a far reaching Vision for technology which will allow Districts to implement the goals established in their Local Control Accountability Plans." --Cheryl Plotkin, Interim Assistant Superintendent Business Services, El Rancho Unified School District

"If you are looking for a succinct guide to help you and your K12 clients understand how to successfully implement technology in the district this is it. "A Vision for Education Technology" helps us understand that the basic premise of technology is curriculum based and centered on one teacher for one student, NOT one computer for one student. From that point, this straight-forward book details how to successfully develop an Education Technology Vision as a complement to the district's Curriculum Vision. A necessity for successful technology consulting." --Alan Newman, Director of Classroom Technologies, InCare Technologies
