John Locke is indisputably a major thinker in education. Alexander Moseley's volume offers the most coherent account of Locke's educational thought. This work is divided into:
Intellectual biography
Critical exposition of Locke's work
The reception and influence of Locke's work and The relevance of the work today.
"'It is a major strength of Mosley's book [...] that he so carefully and thoroughly sets Locke's educational writings in their context. Above all Mosley's book draws out the many connections between Locke's educational writings and his other texts. It is the detailed and scholarly drawings of connections that distinguishes this book...' Richard Smith, Professor of Education, University of Durham; Editor of Ethics in Education; and Associate Editor of the Journal of the Philosophy of Education."
