Description

'Playful, rhythmic and often gigglishly silly' RED READING HUB 'A perfect book for reading aloud' PARENTS IN TOUCH From armadillos, flamingos and umbrella birds to quokkas and iguanas, Elli Woollard presents a lovely collection of poems for younger children about pets which are just a little bit peculiar... Filled with fun rhymes, quirky black-and-white illustrations and exotic animals, this book is perfect for reading aloud. Some poems are hilarious, some are gruesome and some will make you want to wash your hair, but there's sure to be a pet poem here for every child and adult alike. With a poem for every letter of the alphabet and tips for children writing their own rhymes, this is the perfect book for budding young poets aged 3+.

Reviews

Playful, rhythmic and often gigglishly silly, there's sure to be a pet poem or several for every young child in this assortment of Elli's. * Red Reading Hub *
It's a perfect book for reading aloud, with something to appeal to everyone. At the end of the book, there are some really practical suggestions to encourage children to write their own poems. * Parents in Touch *

Author Bio

Elli Woollard is a writer of picture books, young fiction and poetry. She has worked variously as a teacher of English as a foreign language, a copywriter, an editor and a freelance Thai to English translator having lived in Thailand for seven years. She now lives in London with her husband, four children, two guinea pigs, a cat and (unintentionally) lots of spiders and mice. Anja Boretzki is a multi-talented illustrator living in Nrnberg, Germany. Her fun, bright illustrations have been turned into greeting cards and wrapping paper, and she regularly contributes artwork to magazines.
