Each of these 36 readers theatre scriptsone for each week of the school yearprovides teachers and librarians with an introduction to authors of short stories, chapter books, and poetry. The subject matter includes acclaimed writers such as Charles Dickens and Laura Ingalls Wilder, as well as more contemporary authors like Paula Danzinger and Roald Dahl. Each script is designed to be introduced, read, and discussed in a 30-minute period, and encompasses characters with lines written at grade levels 2, 3, and 4 to accommodate different reading levels (grade levels are indicated on the teacher's page only).

Meeting and getting to know an author can be an exciting event for readers. Many well-known authors are no longer with us though, and this book helps children learn more about famous authors. Each interview-style script focuses on a specific element of the authors' life that helped develop them as writers. Author Bio

Charla R. Pfeffinger received her bachelor of science degree in elementary education and her master's degree in reading from Illinois State University, Normal, IL. Pfeffinger was an educator in Illinois for 22 years before retiring. Suzanne I. Barchers, EdD, is the author of two college textbooks, over 20 readers theatre and teacher resource books, and more than 100 educational books for children.
