Maths in general is an area many early years practitioners lack confidence in many having struggled at school themselves. They need lots of bright ideas for teaching maths, which are not intimidating and are very doable. This hands-on Little Book provides a breadth and depth of content that will enthuse both adults and children to explore fun and exciting everyday situations and number problems together.
Carole is an Early Years specialist and a Foundation Associate of Early Education the UKs leading educational charity for parents, carers and early years practitioners. At present she is running training courses for Early Education both in London and throughout the country. Carole has been a primary teacher, adviser and lecturer and she believes that learning maths should be exciting for all children, parents, teachers and practitioners. In the last few years Carole has written for a range of publishers including the BBC Worldwide, BEAM, Reed Publishing and Nursery World. She had a leading role in the National Numeracy Strategy and was until recently responsible for developing the Early Years materials for BEAM and Nelson Thornes. Judith is currently an independent early years consultant with 4 children and has contributed significantly to the Foundation Years website (the DfE conduit with the Early Years Workforce). She has a long and diverse career in early years education. This has included working in the non-maintained sector as well as a teacher, maths coordinator and early years team leader. Following a long career in local authority advisory roles, Judith took on a leadership role in national programmes including Every Child a Talker. Judith is a prolific writer and has written numerous articles in a wide range of early years magazines. Judith has recently developed maths materials for LEGO which are used internationally as a marketing tool. As an independent consultant Judith has provided extensive support and training across England, Wales and Ireland.
