The collection comprises a series of interdisciplinary perspectives upon the development of the principle of gender equality in the European Union. Situated within the context of debates on the EU's constitutional future, the collection explores current initiatives and future prospects for the promotion of gender equality as a matter of EU law, policy and practice. Drawing out the implications of constitutional change for women, the collection offers a gendered reading for the present constitutional debates ensuring that key questions about participation, representation, transparency, solidarity, citizenship, equality and the protection of fundamental rights do not go unexplored and unchallenged from a gender perspective.
