RELEVANT TOPIC PULLED FROM THE HEADLINES: In recent years barely a news cycle goes by without some mention of Chinas supposed maleficence. This focus is unlikely to abet anytime soon as the Chinese economy continues to outpace the USs and China becomes increasingly confident in asserting its own interests abroad.
Half of the co-authors of the book are currently based in China, and all of them have published widely in the left press on Chinese social movements and efforts at international solidarity.
All four authors are willing and able to place pieces on various connected topics to help promote the book.
Kevin Lin is a researcher focusing on labor and employment relations, collective actions, and civil society in China. He is based in Hong Kong. Rosa Liu is a writer and activist based in China. Eli Friedman is associate professor and chair of international and comparative labor at Cornell Universitys ILR School. He splits his time between the US and China. Ashley Smith is a socialist writer and activist in Burlington, Vermont. He has written in numerous publications including Truthout, The International Socialist Review, Socialist Worker, Jacobin, New Politics, Against the Current, and many other online and print publications.
