Bill Emmott, editor of the Economist from 1993 to 2006 (where he presided over a doubling of the magazine's circulation - it is now the most widely read business/politics magazine in the world), has written six books on Japan, and, most recently, 20-21 Vision - 20th-Century Lessons for the 21st Century, published in 2003 by Allen Lane. He is a member of the President's Council of the University of Tokyo, a director of the UK-Japan Twenty-First Century Group, and co-chairman of the Canada-Europe Roundtable for Business. He has honorary degrees from Warwick and City universities, and is an honorary fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford.
