In this edition of The Foreign Policy of the European Union, Bindi and Angelescu and their contributorssome of the most representative scholars in the fieldaddress the EUs relations with particular geographic regions and its policies on specific topical issues such as security and defense, as well as economic competitiveness. In a relatively short amount of time, the European Union has become one of the worlds most powerful and important actors on the world stage, playing a critical role in the current geopolitical arena. The events of the Arab Spring and the eurozone crisis, however, have come to test the EUs willingness and preparedness to tackle these challenges as a unitary actor with one single voice. The EUs internal transformations and international challenges raise a series of questions for the future of its foreign policy and this book addresses these crucial issues.
" The Foreign Policy of the European Union is a very valuable book. It explains a complex and multi-dimensional subject as clearly and comprehensively as possible. I would highly recommend it for scholars and practitioners alike." Anne-Marie Slaughter, professor at Princeton University, former director of policy planning for the U.S. Department of State
|"One of the most comprehensive studies of EU foreign policy to date. It is not an easy subject to tackle, but the contributors do it in an elegant and cogent manner." Lucian Bardi, University of Pisa, former president of theEuropean Consortium for Political Research
