Description

This edited collection examines the future of United States-Russian relations. Bringing together scholars from the U.S. and Russia, the volume explores the means for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, identifying potential opportunities and strategies for solving global problems and regional conflicts. A central premise of the work is that global security and economic prosperity can be enhanced by American and Russian cooperative engagement and that mutual collaboration is imperative in the post-Cold War era. The contributing experts assess prospects for improving diplomatic, military, economic, environmental, and technological cooperation between the U.S. and the post-Soviet state.

Reviews

"(This) is an important and useful book which could not have been written in a more appropriate moment in history. It is a valuable contribution to the field of international studies, presenting a comprehensive analysis of the most relevant and important issues concerning U.S.-Russian relations. There is hardly any major angle of the Russian-U.S. relationship that is not dealt with in this monograph. It is also a brilliant example of fruitful cooperation of Russian and American scholars."-Georgiy I. Mirsky, Professor and Senior Research Fellow Institute of World Economy and International Relations Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow
"This book represents a balanced and objective study of the prospects for U.S.-Russian cooperation in the post Cold War era. That both U.S. and Russian scholars worked together on the project--tackling regional and functional issues--make it especially appealing. University students and policy-makers alike will find this work both fascinating and useful in probing the dynamics of evolving U.S.-Russian relations."-W. Raymond Duncan, Distinguished Teaching Professor Department of Political Science State University of New York College at Brockport
This book is useful for undergraduate courses because it contains short selections on a full range of topics in US-Russian relations and does not inundate the reader with excessive details.-Canadian Slavonic Papers
This compilation provides trained professional insight into new areas that pose both opportunities and challenges. It is a valuable addition to studies of US-Russian relations in particular and international relations in general. All levels.-Choice
