Description

An analysis of contemporary and future politics and government. The author begins by examining major problems and issues, surveying different regimes, and assessing the wide variety of active and emerging political movements. He then explores political paradigms and ideologies through a "main political spectrum" to various alternatives. He outlines some possible elements for a new political paradigm that would be holistic in several different ways. Finally, he outlines scenarios for three possible futures and presents conclusions that indicate what can be done to achieve a political transition to maximize the prospects for a good human future in the 21st century.

.,."this book is brimming with information and optimism....I recommend this book for at least two reasons;it reminds us that politics and politicians can only ever be of limited influence; and it reminds us that this planet and human society are both approaching breaking point."-Network

It is exceedingly well researched and highly objective. Nowhere to Alan's own outlooks crowd out his information, which is presented in a straightforward unbiased manner. We learn of all kinds of political ideologies and forms or democracy (there are many) and of government (of which there are even more).-The New Humanity
Those of us who are familiar with Alan Mayne's previous work will say on reading this book that he has surpassed himself. His research and accumulation of vital information are truly stupendous.-Ethical Record
