Author Bio

MOHAMMED EL-KURD

is an internationally touring and award-winning poet, writer, journalist, and organizer from Jerusalem, occupied Palestine. El-Kurd serves as The Nation's first-ever Palestine Correspondent and Culture Editor at Mondoweiss. In 2021, he was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME Magazine. He is best known for his role in the #SaveSheikhJarrah movement. El-Kurd's work has been featured in numerous international outlets and he has appeared repeatedly as a commentator on major TV networks. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including a USC Annenberg Fellowship, the AACC's 'Truth in Media' Award, The Calgary Peace Prize, OYW's Journalist of The Year Award, the Izzy Award for 'outstanding achievement in independent media', as well as the Cultural Freedom Fellowship from Lannan Foundation. His debut poetry collection, Rifqa, was published by Haymarket Books in 2021 and has been translated into multiple languages.
