The term "deplorable" given by Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump supporters during the 2016 Presidential election would become a badge of honor for many of them. "The Liberal's Guide to Understanding the 'Deplorable' (One "Deplorable's Attempt to Help the Liberal Understand What Happened)" is a reflective, thought-provoking and sometimes humorous look into the mindset of the many rural Ohio voters who helped propel Donald J. Trump to the White House as the 45th President. From patriotism and the National Anthem controversy to our 2nd Amendment rights and mass shootings, from immigration and "The Wall" to the ever popular wit and wisdom of the Hollywood crowd and "Fake News," the "deplorable's" worldviews are candidly discussed. Amid the cries of "Russia, Russia, Russia," the "deplorable" looks at our nation's current education system, the issues with political correctness, the feminist idea, and religious and reproductive rights as topics that helped to decide the 2016 election results. An opinion piece, it is one that provides incite for those curious as to why Donald J. Trump was so appealing to the masses in the heart of rural fly-over country and a validation for the Trump supporter who felt the country needed a HUGE change from the previous eight years of liberal politics dominating the scene in Washington, D.C. and the United States in general.
