PRE-ORDER NOW: Ambitious, courageous and thought-provoking, this is Andy Burnham's and Steve Rotheram's vision for the Britain we deserve - and the one we need now more than ever.
For the first time, the Mayors of Greater Manchester and the Liverpool City Region, Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram, are speaking out about their experiences of modern British politics, and the fight for Northern voices to be heard. Head North offers a new vision for Britain which centres a Northern perspective and reimagines our country beyond the Westminster bubble, arguing that by reframing our thinking we can push forward for a fairer future. From the renationalisation of public transport networks to rebuilding the NHS and social care spaces; from rewiring Westminster to creating a new education system for all, Andy and Steve's united vision for Britain isn't an unrealistic alternative, it's a very tangible possibility. At its core, Head North is a timely discussion around Northern voices and culture, devolution and the failed promises of 'levelling up' from successive Tory Prime Ministers, outlining how we can spread political and economic power throughout the UK. It is a firm message to the Westminster elite that things can, will and are changing, and that the North will not sit on the side-lines. After years of abject neglect and political failure, it is time for us to Head North for the future of this country.Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram have been the Mayors for Greater Manchester & the Liverpool City Region since 2017. Andy was previously the Labour MP for Leigh from 2001-2017 and served as the Culture Secretary and then the Health Secretary in Gordon Brown's cabinet. Steve was previously Labour MP for Liverpool Walton from 2010-2017 and served as the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Jeremy Corbyn from 2015-2017.
