BARRY NURCOMBE is Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, University of Queensland. SUSAN-LEE WALKER is committee member and advisor to the Warrawong Child and Family Center. PHILIP DE LACEY is part-time Associate Professor responsible for the experimental preschool program in Bourke, New South Wales. He was the first chairman of the Department of Education at the Wollongong University College of the University of N. S. W.. and subsequently of the University of Wollongong. His research interests include psychology in education, child development, early-enrichment and pre-literacy programs, `quality' in university education, atypical children.
