Julius Stone was the Challis Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law at the University of Sydney, Australia. He was the author of many books standard in their fields, among them, The Province and Function of Law, Law and Society, Legal Education and Public Responsibility, and Legal Controls of International Conflict. He received a number of honors and awards including the Prize for Jurisprudence of the Royal Society of Arts, London, 1964, and the World Legal Research Award, 1965.
