A timely examination of the purpose of policing in Wales.
Through the lens of the South Wales Police, Policing Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow reflects upon the changing role of law enforcement in society. Written by both police practitioners and academics, it explores how the organization and conduct of different aspects of policing, including community and neighborhood policing, major crime investigations, as well as other functions, are shaped by a shifting array of interacting social, political, and economic influences.
Martin Innes is professor in the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University. Gareth Madge is a former director of legal services in the South Wales Police. Trudy Lowe is a research fellow at Cardiff University's Security, Crime, and Intelligence Innovation Institute.
